- Junior Secondary (Years 7 – 10)
- Senior Secondary (Years 11 - 12).
Vision for Learning and Teaching
Learning and Teaching at Saint Mary's Catholic College is underpinned by the Alice Springs (Mparntwe) Education Declaration, the Australian Curriculum (P-10), the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (11-12), the BCE Learning and Teaching Framework, the BCE Model of Pedagogy and the
AITSL Teacher Standards.
Alice Springs (Mparntwe) Education Declaration
At Saint Mary's Catholic College, we are guided by The Alice Springs (Mparntwe) Education Declaration on Educational Goals for Young Australians (2019) which identifies the national vision for education and improving educational outcomes.
The declaration has two distinct but interconnected goals:
Goal 1: The Australian education system promotes excellence and equity.
Goal 2: All young Australians become:
- confident and creative individuals
- successful lifelong learners
- active and informed members of the community.
Just as the Declaration is designed to provide a vision and framework for the education of all young Australians, learning and teaching at Saint Mary's Catholic College supports, inspires and delivers a strong educational vision for purposeful and meaningful educational engagement for all students at our College.
Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting (ACARA)
Learning and teaching at Saint Mary's Catholic College is informed by:
- the Australian Curriculum across Prep - Year 10
- QCAA syllabuses in Years 11 and 12; and
- Vocational Education and Training courses at Level 1 or above under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE)
Learning and Teaching Framework
The Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE)
Learning and Teaching Framework link doesn't work outlines the vision for the learning and growth of our students built on our values and beliefs. It is the beginning point for planning for learning and teaching across BCE.
As a Catholic community, we educate all to live the gospel of Jesus Christ as successful, creative and confident, active and informed learners who feel empowered to shape and enrich our world.
Model of Pedagogy
The Model of Pedagogy brings together the effective principles and practices of learning and teaching that lead to success for all learners. It encompasses five (5) key pedagogical approaches:
- focus on learners and their learning
